Rabbitt Comments On Mid-Orange Prison Closure
A Statement from Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,C,I-Greenwood Lake)
June 30, 2011
Unfortunately, the governor’s announcement that he will be closing seven of the state’s correctional facilities, including Mid-Orange in Warwick, will put a damper on the celebrations at many of the homes of my constituents as we celebrate Independence Day this weekend. However, I have spoken with the Governor’s office and none of Mid-Orange’s 320 employees will be laid off. All employees will be reassigned to other facilities. I understand how troubling this news can be, despite the fact that employees will not be laid off, and would like to remind constituents to contact my office for any assistance they may need or help answering any questions they may have.
