Rabbitt Says One-House Bill Does Not Help Working Families
A Statement from Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,I,C-Greenwood Lake)
March 5, 2013

The Assembly is wasting time and taxpayer dollars debating a bill that has no real chance of becoming law, increasing minimum wage, or helping those it intends to help. In the current fragile economy, a 24 percent increase in costs is not realistic for the small employers in Orange and Rockland counties. The local ski mountains, pizza shops and farms that depend on high school students and young adults as employers cannot afford such a hike. That means jobs will be lost and businesses will close. I cannot support a measure that will cost citizens their jobs and further compromise small businesses’ ability to survive.
