Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R,I,C-Greenwood Lake) will be joined by Port Jervis Mayor Russ Potter and local economic development officials to tour small businesses in downtown Port Jervis. The tour is a continuation of the Assemblywoman’s Buy Local-Shop Local initiative, which highlights the community benefits of doing business with locally-owned shops, restaurants and services as opposed to big-box corporate chains.
All members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend the tour which will kick off at Port Jervis City Hall at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013.
“As families head out to do their back-to-school shopping, it is a great time to remember the impact shopping local has on our community. For every $1 you spend at a locally-owned business nearly half of that is reinvested in our community through employment, tax revenue and civic involvement, such as sponsorships of our local youth sports teams,” said Assemblywoman Rabbitt.
