"Utica, alone, has been owed $50 million by the state. Because the lack of funding they've had to increase class sizes, and that's particularly problematic in a district with such high needs as Utica. So, what Senator Griffo and I are doing under this legislation is saying, let's not wait for the court to render its decision, lets step up now as a legislature and fulfill our obligation and repay these school districts what they're owed," said Assemblyman Brindisi, who sponsored bill A-9871, which called for New York State to provide resources necessary to educate students in eight small-city Maisto School districts.
