As part of his annual commemoration of Memorial Day, Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) joined members of the Rocky Point VFW Post 6249 following a special breakfast and Memorial Day services Monday.
I thank this distinguished group of veterans for allowing me to join them for their special ceremony and the sacrifices they have made to our nation, Palumbo said. We can never express enough gratitude to our veterans, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice, but Memorial Day is one of those sacred days of the year that we reflect and honor these brave men and women and their devotion to our nation.
Continuing his celebration of Memorial Day, Palumbo joined several locally-elected officials at the Sound Beach Veterans Memorial to participate in services sponsored by the Sound Beach Fire Department.
I would like to thank the members of the Sound Beach Fire Department for hosting this great tribute to our veterans and fallen service members, Palumbo said. Our country was forged on the sacrifices of so many brave souls who answered the call of duty to defeat the forces of evil, and we must always make an effort to remember their legacy not only on Memorial Day but year-round. Long Islanders care deeply about our veterans and members of our armed forces and they can be sure I will always stand with them in Albany.
