Assemblymember Brindisi: Tax Agreement a “Victory” for Middle-Class Families, Job Creators
December 7, 2011
“A true victory for Mohawk Valley families, this bipartisan agreement cuts taxes for middle-class families, invests in projects that will put people back to work and helps our community recover from the devastating effects of Tropical Storm Lee. The historic restructuring of the tax code provides tax relief for 4.4 million hardworking New Yorkers. The legislation also provides $1 billion for infrastructure projects, which will be used to make critical repairs to Oneida roads and bridges, all while putting people back to work. The bill also delivers long-needed aid for families affected by Tropical Storm Lee, including a $50 million grant program to continue recovery efforts, property tax relief for impacted homeowners and tax credits for local businesses to help them recover from storm damages. This is a step in the right direction for our state and comes as welcomed news to middle-class families across Mohawk Valley.”
