Assemblyman Brindisi Asks the Governor to Create a Task Force to Protect Military Installations
February 29, 2012
Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi wrote a letter to Governor Cuomo requesting that New York create a task force to review military assets and security in New York that includes stakeholders. Previously, Assemblyman Brindisi sent a letter to Governor Cuomo asking him to include funding in this year’s state budget to help ensure the Air Force Research Laboratory, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), and Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) in Rome are well positioned.
“By creating a task force we will ensure we have a unified strategy to protect Rome’s military facilities and all the other assets currently located here in New York,” Brindisi said. “The economic benefits from the Air Force Research Laboratory and its spin offs to the Mohawk Valley are huge and we must do all we can to protect it from BRAC.”
Brindisi believes the task force should include representatives from each of the military facilities, local leaders, economic development experts and others.
