Assemblymember Anthony Brindisi: Utica DOT Office Will Not Merge With Syracuse

Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced the retention of the Utica DOT office for the upcoming fiscal year. The office has been in jeopardy since earlier this year, when Governor Cuomo proposed closing several DOT offices around the state.
“The Governor has committed to not closing any regional DOT offices as he proposed earlier this year,” said Brindisi. “This is a major win not only for the employees and their families who could have been affected, but for our entire region.”
The closure would have affected around 200 employees currently working at the Utica DOT office.
“While streamlining government and making it as efficient and effective as possible is a priority,” Assemblymember Brindisi said, “we must make sure it is done in ways that will not affect services our communities rely on, such as infrastructure maintenance and repair, and snow-removal.”
