Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced 49 companies will receive low-cost power through the ReCharge New York initiative.
"The ReCharge New York initiative provides low-cost power to companies," said Brindisi. "In turn these companies can invest more in maintaining and even expanding their businesses here in the Mohawk Valley."
The forty-nine companies are slated to receive a total of over 40,000 kW of low-cost power, helping to retain over 12,500 jobs in the Mohawk Valley.
"Creating jobs and supporting local businesses is a priority," Brindisi said. "And I will continue to work with Governor Cuomo to cut red tape, streamline government, and make our state more business-friendly."
"This power allocation will allow us to continue to compete with other foreign and domestic manufacturers," said Kirk Hinman, President of Rome Strip Steel. "We look forward to an improving economy and an expanding local workforce. Programs like this are very important to the continued success and stability of manufacturing companies here in upstate New York."
