Assemblymember Brindisi Opposes Proposed Satellite TV Tax
March 16, 2013
Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) has come out against legislation that would impose a 5 percent tax on all satellite television bills (A.5118)
“Cable television is not an option for many people living in rural areas,” Assemblymember Brindisi said. “This increase would be an unfair burden to place on residents who only have satellite television as an option.”
Assemblymember Brindisi also noted that satellite television offers several foreign channels not offered by cable providers. In addition, not all areas have access to cable providers. Assemblymember Brindisi has recently written a letter to concerned constituents and has pledged to fight this tax.
