Assemblymember Brindisi Announces 2013-14 State Budget Will Increase Education Funding for Mohawk Valley Schools
March 26, 2013
Assemblymember Anthony Brindisi (D-Utica) announced that the final state budget will include an increase of over $16 million in education funding to local school districts. The spending plan, which is expected to be taken up by the Assembly this week, provides $21.2 billion for schools statewide, an increase of $936.6 million over last year (A3007-D).
“The increase in education funding this year comes as needed relief for schools across the state, especially those in the Mohawk Valley,” Assemblymember Brindisi said. “The lessons learned in a classroom often go far beyond what can be found in a textbook. We must continue to provide the funding needed to ensure our schools have the resources they need to keep teachers on the job and keep our classrooms vibrant for Mohawk Valley’s youth.”
