Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced that he will chair the Assembly Subcommittee on Volunteer Emergency Services, which ensures that local volunteer emergency service organizations have the necessary resources to keep our community safe.
“The courageous men and women of our volunteer emergency service organizations are true heroes,” Assemblymember Brindisi said. “As chairman of the Assembly Subcommittee on Volunteer Emergency Services, I’ll work to make sure that they have the resources and assistance needed to do their jobs.”
The Assembly Subcommittee on Volunteer Emergency Services examines legislation and issues that impact volunteer emergency services and the organizations and municipalities they serve, such as emergency services and 911 communication systems, as well as disaster preparedness and response.
“Having worked with Assemblymember Brindisi in the past, I know what he brings to the community,” said David Jacobowitz, Past President of the Firemen's Association of New York (FASNY.). “I look forward to working with him in his new position as chairman of the Assembly Subcommittee on Volunteer Emergency Services, so that together, we can continue providing Mohawk Valley families with the vital emergency services they depend on.”
The committee also helps volunteer emergency service organizations fund and promote volunteer recruitment, and oversees disability, death and other benefits provided to volunteer service workers injured or killed in the line of duty, Assemblymember Brindisi added.
