Assemblymember Brindisi announces Herkimer County Public Health Director Bill passes Assembly
June 7, 2013
Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced a bill he sponsored to allow Herkimer County to appoint a public health director residing outside of the county passed the Assembly (A.5666). This measure followed a home rule request from the Herkimer County Legislature.
Currently, the health director must reside within Herkimer County. This bill, which has passed both the Assembly and the Senate and has been sent to the governor to be signed into law, would allow the county to fill the position of public health director by hiring someone who lives in Herkimer County or an adjoining county.
