Assemblymember Brindisi: Assembly Takes Action to Memorialize Officer Thomas M. Lindsey
Legislation names portion of Utica highway after officer
June 12, 2013

Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi announced today that the Assembly passed a bill that designates a portion of state route 5-A and 5-S in Oneida County as the ‘Officer Thomas M. Lindsey Memorial Highway.’ Officer Lindsey was tragically taken before his time while on duty as a Utica police officer (A.7427).

“Officer Lindsey gave everything he had to the UPD and the citizens of Oneida County during his five-year career,” said Assemblymember Brindisi. “For the acts of bravery he displayed not only on that tragic day, but each and every day, this memorial highway should serve as a constant reminder of this devoted officer's supreme sacrifice.”

"Tom Lindsey was an exceptional public servant,” said Utica Police Chief Mark Williams. “When he was murdered in 2007 it was a great loss to the Utica Police Department and all of the citizens we serve. Having a highway named after Tom is a fitting way to honor his memory, and will keep him in the minds of all who travel this roadway. We commend Assemblyman Brindisi for keeping Tom’s sacrifice in mind 6 years after he died."
