Assemblymember Brindisi: Mohawk Valley Libraries Awarded State Grants for Construction Projects
June 19, 2013
(UTICA) – Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced today that several libraries in the Mohawk Valley region have been awarded state construction grants.
Brindisi says the funding comes from a State Budget appropriation he supported for capital projects for public libraries and public library systems in New York.
“These grants will allow our libraries to make very significant improvements that will improve accessibility and safety for their growing number of patrons,” Brindisi said. “Our region’s libraries are such an important part of our community, and providing them with the resources to make needed improvements to their facilities is a very worthwhile investment.”
The following are the awards being announced by Assemblymember Brindisi today:
- Dunham Public Library, Whitesboro, $77,214 to expand its parking lot by an additional 16 spaces, and to improve access for library programming.
- Mid-York Library System, Utica, $52,940 to begin an off-street secure parking area for better access; improvement of Information Technology access and system; roof repairs; and several infrastructure improvements.
- Utica Public Library, $146,700 to rehabilitate the roof gutters and to replace the gutter trim to meet historic preservation guidelines, to contribute to energy conservation and protect the library holdings.
