Griffo, Brindisi Request Federal Disaster Declaration for Oneida County
In a joint letter to the Governor, the two legislators ask for assistance for flood-ravaged municipalities.
June 28, 2013
(UTICA) - State Senator Joseph A. Griffo (R/C-Rome) and Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) have asked Governor Andrew Cuomo to request a federal disaster declaration for Oneida County due to severe flooding in a number of municipalities overnight.
In their letter, the two state legislators state that a number of homeowners and businesses sustained significant and perhaps permanent damage due to the storm. They have asked that the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) and other state agencies currently assessing the damage expedite the process, and request a federal disaster declaration to aid municipalities hit by the flooding.
Brindisi has also joined his state legislative colleagues in Herkimer County in requesting a federal disaster declaration for that county.
