Griffo, Brindisi Invite Whitesboro Residents to Special Meeting on Future Flooding Issues in the Village
September 13, 2013

Whitesboro -- State Senator Joseph Griffo (R-Rome) and Assemblymember Anthony Brindisi (D-Utica) are inviting residents of the Village of Whitesboro to a Special Meeting to discuss ongoing issues with flooding in the Village.

The Special Meeting of the Sauquoit Creek Basin Intermunicipal Commission will take place on Wednesday, September 18th at 7 p.m. at the Whitesboro Fire Hall at 171 Oriskany Boulevard in Whitesboro.

"The mid-summer flooding in the region has only re-emphasized the mission of organizations like the Commission," said Senator Griffo. "The State is becoming proactive in finding ways to avert severe flooding and will need the input of residents and municipal officials. This special meeting will give the home and business owners of the Whitesboro area, a chance to give direct input on providing lasting preventative measures."

“This is an important meeting, because Commission members will be available not only to provide information on future activities related to flooding in the area, but also to address specific concerns residents have,” Brindisi said. “I would urge anyone interested in these issues to attend.”

“This meeting provides great opportunity for residents of the Village of Whitesboro, which I reside in and represent on the commission, to discuss any flood-related issues or concerns they have,” said Commission Chairman David Glenn. “The agencies that have been working with the Commission on our flood mitigation efforts will all be in one room, so I am hoping for a good turnout from Whitesboro residents.”

The Commission is made up of municipalities, agencies, and organizations in the Sauquoit Creek Basin. Commission members are responsible for establishing flooding and storm water management activities in the Basin, which includes the Village of Whitesboro.
