Assemblymember Brindisi to Sponsor “Warm for Winter” Clothing Drive
September 30, 2013

Assemblymember Anthony J. Brindisi (D-Utica) announced that he is partnering with the Rescue Mission of Utica to sponsor “Warm for Winter,” a clothing drive that will provide local families with warm attire for the cold winter months.

“As our region recovers from the economic recession and recent flooding, many families in our community are still struggling to obtain the basic necessities to ensure a safe winter,” Assemblymember Brindisi said. “Every donation, large or small, will provide warmth and comfort to those who are most in need.”

From Oct. 1 through Nov. 1, new or gently-used items for children and adults can be dropped off at Chanatry’s Hometown Market, located at 485 French Road in Utica. Donations can be made from 7 a.m. through 11 p.m., daily. Acceptable items include: hats, gloves, scarves, coats and boots.

“We are so grateful to Assemblymember Brindisi for his care and concern for the homeless, working poor and those who have suffered great loss. These gifts of warmth will be available to the men, women and children coming to our free clothing center as well as the 130 men and women in our residential program,” said Paul Plevritis, President of the Rescue Mission Board.

The Rescue Mission of Utica has been providing help and assistance to disadvantaged families in Utica and the Mohawk Valley since 1890. Last year, the organization distributed over 8,200 pieces of free clothing to 1,698 men, women and children in the community.

For more information about the “Warm for Winter” clothing drive, or if you or someone you know is in need of winter attire, please contact Assemblymember Brindisi’s office at 315-732-1055.
