Assemblyman Nojay Issues Statement On The Accident In The Town Of Wheatland
July 19, 2013
“There is nothing that can be said to ease the wrenching pain of losing these young people. They were contributing so much to their communities and had such bright futures ahead of them. The horrific tragedy in Wheatland is every parent's and every neighbor's worst nightmare. As a former ambulance driver and EMT, I have been at many accident scenes, and nothing is worse than a senseless tragedy that takes a young life. As a parent, I have watched as our kids first drove on their own, and I’ve known the angst every parent feels when their children get behind the wheel. Although there is nothing we can do to change what has happened, we can devote ourselves to understanding what went wrong and doing everything possible to make our roads safer. I will be working with local officials and state DOT engineers to make sure that happens. Let us pray for the recovery of those injured and the memories of those departed.”
