Reilich Encourages Community To Sign Up For Free NY-Alert System
Statewide system alerts for possible threats to safety and property
December 1, 2011

Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) today highlighted the NY-Alert System, a statewide alert system that individuals can sign up online for free. NY-Alert sends text messages, emails and even phone calls to advise New Yorkers of serious hazards that can threaten safety and property. NY-Alert also works with local, state, federal and other agencies to deliver many types of public communications, from Amber Alerts to Missing Adult Alerts. Reilich is encouraging community members to go online and sign up for the message alerts important to them.

“Emergencies and disasters can occur at any moment,” said Reilich. “The NY-Alert system is a free and easy way for our residents to stay informed on emergency situations. With a wide variety of alerts offered, from emergencies to missing persons to school closings, people can customize the types of alerts they receive and how they receive them, choosing either text message or phone call. I highly encourage constituents to sign up today for this free service and add a level of protection for their families.”

To sign up for this free service, constituents may go online to https://users.nyalert.gov/. For more information on NY-Alert, please visit http://www.nyalert.gov/. There is also a free app available for iPhone users.
