Assemblyman Robert Oaks (R-Macedon) noted today that Gov. George Pataki has committed more than $352,000 in state grants for snowmobile trail development and law enforcement in the three counties that make up the 128th Assembly District.
"I am excited to see that these grants have been made available for Cayuga, Oswego and Wayne counties," Oaks said. "These grants will ensure that snowmobile enthusiasts will have an improved and safer trail system for riding."
According to Oaks, the grant program is funded by snowmobile trail fees collected by the state Department of Motor Vehicles when snowmobiles are registered. "Snowmobile enthusiasts should be pleased to see that their fees are being used to improve their recreational activity," Oaks said.
Oswego, Cayuga and Wayne counties will receive $209,100, $85,725 and $57,700, respectively.
