Assemblyman Robert Oaks (R,C-Macedon) today said the state Office for the Aging is making available a free information guide to provide consumer tips and program summaries and services for senior citizens.
"The New York State Senior Citizen Resource Guide" includes valuable information on community support, health care, housing, nutrition, financial help and transportation. Oaks said the publication also offers toll-free telephone numbers and addresses for contact and follow-up purposes.
"This consumer guide is an excellent resource for seniors searching for assistance," Oaks said. "The information provides a range of programs and services available to New York’s older population."
The state Office for the Aging serves as an advocate for senior citizens at all levels of government, Oaks explained. Since the agency was created, many of its initiatives have become models for other states to adopt.
