Oaks Reminds Residents Free Credit Reports To Be Available

August 29, 2005
Assemblyman Robert Oaks (R,C-Macedon) is reminding residents that, as of Sept. 1, they can obtain free credit reports every 12 months from each of the major credit reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

"I urge all New Yorkers to check their credit reports on a regular basis and catch mistakes that may be affecting their credit ratings or determine whether they are victims of identity theft. This is a wonderful free service, which in the past may have cost more than $10 each," said Assemblyman Oaks.

Residents can order all three credit reports at the same time or spread out their requests. To receive a free annual credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call toll-free (877) 322-8228.
