Oaks Appointed to the Human Services and Labor Joint Budget Subcommittee

March 19, 2008
Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C- Macedon) has been named by Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco as the Assembly Minority’s conferee on the 2008-09 New York State Budget Conference Subcommittee covering Human Services and Labor.

“I would like to thank Leader Tedisco for appointing me to represent the Assembly Minority Conference on this subcommittee, which is responsible for these critical areas of the budget” said Oaks.

The conference committees have already started meeting to discuss and negotiate the differences between the Governor’s proposed state budget and Senate and Assembly one-house budget bills, as the Legislature and Governor Paterson work to try to agree on a new state budget by the March 31 deadline.

“Although the present fiscal challenges in the state make this year’s budget negotiations more difficult, I appreciate being one of the budget conference committee members and I am hopeful that with bi-partisan efforts, we can still deliver a responsible, timely budget to the citizens of New York State,” concluded Oaks.
