In a show of support for the Agriculture industry in New York state, Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C-Macedon) today joined his Assembly Minority colleagues and members of the farming industry at the annual Dairy Day reception. During the reception, a sampling of New York’s cheeses, milks, yogurts and ice creams were available for attendees to enjoy.
“Dairy Day is always a special day for me in Albany. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I am able to join with my Assembly colleagues to show our appreciation for all this vital industry continues to do for our state’s economy,” said Oaks.
New York is home to over 6,200 dairy farms, which places us third in the nation and we are first in cottage cheese production. Milk alone accounts for one-half of the revenues New York farmers bring in.
“It is not enough for us to just say thank you, we must also support legislation that will relieve some of the financial burden that our farmers currently face. I am supporting legislation that includes tax relief in the form of credits and adding funds to the Dairy Assistance Program,” concluded Oaks.
Vendors featured at today’s event included Stewart’s Shops, HP Hood, Garelick Farms, The Ice Cream Man, Upstate Niagara Cooperative, F. Cappiello Dairy Products, Ronnybrook Farms, Mercer’s Dairy, American Dairy Association, NYS Dairy Foods Incorporated, and Pride of New York.
