Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C-Macedon) today announced that the New York State Department of Correctional Services is beginning their effort to recruit New York State Correction Officers. The department will be offering a new correction officer exam on October 18, 2008 with a filing deadline for this exam on September 2, 2008.
“Correction officers are looked upon with the highest admiration, so I am happy to support the Department of Correctional Services in their effort to recruit more of these highly respected, hardworking individuals,” said Oaks.
The starting salary for a correction officer trainee is $34,329, and after one year and completion of the training program, the salary increases to $41,348. To apply for the examination you can download the application from the Department of Correctional Services Web site at www.docs.state.ny.us.
