Oaks Supports Continued Learning Throughout the Summer Months with Summer Reading Program
June 19, 2009
Assemblyman Robert C. Oaks (R,C-Macedon) is encouraging students from Pre-K through sixth grade to continue reading and learning this summer by participating in the 2009 New York Statewide Summer Reading Program titled “Be Creative at Your Library.” “I am happy to, once again, sponsor the Summer Reading Challenge. This program encourages children to continue learning throughout the summer months. It also teaches children responsibility and commitment by having them keep track of how much they read on a pre-printed brochure and calendar,” stated Oaks. At the end of August, students are encouraged to send their brochures back to the Assemblyman’s office to obtain a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate. “Children who continue to read throughout the summer are able to keep their minds sharp and ready for school in the fall,” said Oaks. “I hope that many area students will accept the reading challenge this summer.” To obtain a brochure, please contact Assemblyman Oaks’ district office at 315-946-5166 or e-mail your name and address to firstname.lastname@example.org. Residents also may mail in a request for a brochure to 10 Leach Road, Lyons, New York 14489.
