Assemblyman Bob Oaks (R,C-Macedon) today announced that the New York State Department of Civil Service is beginning their effort to recruit New York State Correction Officers. The department will be offering the civil service exam for this position on October 16, 2010, the filing deadline for this examination is September 13, 2010.

The starting salary for a correction officer trainee is $36,420, after six months the salary will increase to $38,310, and after one year and completion of the training program, the salary increases to $43,867.
