Assemblyman Oaks Travels On The Erie Canal
Takes Part In Inspection Tour
August 21, 2013

Assemblyman Bob Oaks tours the Erie Canal.
Assemblyman Bob Oaks (R-C Macedon) had the opportunity to take part in the New York State Canal Corporation Canal Inspection Tour that traveled through Wayne County on Aug. 21. He traveled on the Tugboat Urger between Palmyra and Newark and experienced, firsthand, both the beauty of New York State's Canal system and the extraordinary dedication of the people entrusted with its care. He is shown here with John Joyce, left, the director of special projects for the canal corporation, and John Callahan, right, the corporation’s deputy director. The tugboat captain, Jim Younglove of Savannah, not pictured, is one of the assemblyman’s constituents. He has piloted canal tugs for more than three decades on the system.
