Statement From Assemblyman Brian Curran
Assemblyman reacts to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed budget
February 1, 2011
I will be reviewing the governor’s proposed Executive Budget closely in the upcoming days as I work to represent the best interests of the taxpayers of the 14th Assembly District. Cuts will have to be made in order to balance the budget, but we need to apply them with prudence. New taxes, hidden surcharges, and fees are unacceptable and we cannot afford any new spending. A top budgetary concern of mine is education; Long Island schools are of the utmost importance to me and I will fight to ensure their proper funding. I look forward to working with my colleagues as we work to reform, redesign, and restructure state government to ensure economic growth and future prosperity.
