Assemblyman Curran Accepting Donations For Easter Baskets, Passover Food
March 6, 2013

With Easter and Passover approaching, Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook- 21st AD) is helping the less fortunate in the community by collecting donations of toys and other presents for Easter baskets, as well as non-perishable Kosher food items for Passover.

“The Easter season is a time when people celebrate their faith and the resurrection. And I’ve always been moved by the Haggadah’s opening call for ‘all who are hungry, come and eat; all who are needy come and celebrate Passover.’ That’s why I’m committed to ensuring people who may be struggling receive what they need to make their celebrations better this year,” said Curran.

“Even in the face of Hurricane Sandy, I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our neighbors, local businesses and organizations. Their outpouring of aid and assistance to make the Easter and Passover holidays easier for residents truly embodies the spirit of the season,” said Curran.

Last year, Curran collected over 200 Easter baskets that were handed out to children in the pediatric units of Mercy Medical Centre and South Nassau Communities Hospital. The baskets were donated for distribution to children through local organizations including Hispanic Brotherhood of Rockville Centre, St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Christopher’s Church, the Freeport PTA, St. Agnes Community Center, St. Agnes School and Our Lady of Peace Church.

This year, Curran is donating to Chabad of West Hempstead and the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre to expand the donation program to bring Passover food to those who need it the most.
