Kavanagh Named Chair of Subcommittee Covering Election Operations and Right to Vote

June 1, 2009
On June 1, 2009, Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh was appointed to Chair the Assembly Subcommittee on Election Day Operations and Voter Disenfranchisement. In his new position, Kavanagh will spearhead efforts to modernize and reform New York’s election operations, which often place an undue burden on citizens attempting to exercise one of their most basic democratic rights, and to ensure that elections are run in a fair and impartial manner. Prior to his appointment, Kavanagh was already a member of the Assembly’s Election Law Committee and had introduced twenty-eight bills aimed at reforming the ways elections are financed and administered in New York State.
