Kavanagh Reports to Community Board 3
July 28, 2009
On July 28, 2009, Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh appeared at the last full board meeting of the summer of Manhattan Community Board 3. Kavanagh took the opportunity to update the Board and other community members who were present regarding the end of the regular legislative session in June, including Assembly passage of Kavanagh’s public housing elevator safety bill and several environmental bills. Kavanagh fielded questions from the audience regarding his work – with local State Senator Daniel Squadron and others – on the recently announced SOUND Housing Campaign, which aims to resolve NYCHA’s budget deficit, and pending legislation to strengthen the legal status of domestic workers. Kavanagh also distributed a written report highlighting some of his office’s activities in the month since the last Community Board 3 meeting.
