On September 22, 2009, Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh attended a Community Council meeting for residents of the NYPD’s Police Service Area (PSA) 4. The meeting was the first for Captain Tom Hogan since he took over as commanding officer of PSA 4.
Kavanagh spoke about the stabbing death of 21-year old college student Glenn Wright, who was killed recently on the grounds of Baruch Houses while visiting his grandmother. Kavanagh committed to working with the Community Council, the NYPD, and other community leaders to try to identify ways to improve public safety and provide youth residents with a greater range of constructive activities.
