Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) has been appointed by Assembly Minority Leader James N. Tedisco (R,C,I-Schenectady, Saratoga) to serve as Deputy Minority Whip for the Assembly Minority Conference. He also was named to serve on the Assembly Committee on Insurance.
As Deputy Minority Whip, Kolb assists the Minority Leader in coordinating the party caucus in its responses to legislation and other matters. He also ensures that the Minority Conference members are present for necessary votes.
The Insurance Committee plays a pivotal role in the insurance regulatory process. The Committee oversees and monitors the way in which regulation of the industry is carried out and acts as a sounding board for new ideas from consumers, regulators, and the industry, some of which form the basis of future legislation.
“I am excited about these new leadership positions which will help me better advocate in Albany for the needs of my constituents,” said Assemblyman Kolb. “I thank Leader Tedisco for giving me the opportunity to further serve the great people of Western New York.”
Kolb also serves as Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Committee on Energy and as a member of the Higher Education, Labor, and Tourism, Arts and Sports Development Committees.
