Statement from Assemblyman Kolb on Passage of Workers’ Compensation Reform
March 6, 2007
Assemblyman Brian Kolb (R,C,I –Canandaigua), a long-time advocate of workers’ compensation reform, issued this statement following passage of today’s landmark reform package:
New York’s employers, particularly those in the upstate region, stand to benefit from the workers’ compensation reforms that we have passed here today. As an entrepreneur and advocate for small businesses, I know that the reforms we passed today will afford employers relief in the way of lower premiums while giving workers improved benefits. This is a good legislative package that lays the groundwork for future reforms. Our legislature needs to continue these efforts and tackle other areas of regulation and reform which includes reducing taxes and lowering the costs of energy in an effort to create a more competitive business environment in New York.
