Assemblyman Brian Kolb (R,C,I –Canandaigua) will be holding a blood drive on Tuesday, July 17 at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake. The inn is located at 770 South Main Street and the drive will be conducted between 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The need for blood is always growing, and blood viability expires in 42 days, so there is a constant need to replenish the supply. All blood types, especially Type-O, are needed, and a person can give blood every two months.
“We can all do our part by giving blood,” said Kolb. “Our doctors and hospitals rely on donors to keep an adequate supply of blood on hand and in order to maintain that supply, we must recruit new donors along with encouraging past donors to give more often.”
While walk-ins are always welcome, donors may call Kolb’s district office at (315) 781-2030 to schedule an appointment or for any other information about the drive.
Those that are not eligible to donate blood can help in other ways as well. Volunteers are always needed and, thus, will help to ensure the American Red Cross’ continued efforts in the future.
“I encourage all of you out there to help give the ‘gift of life’,” Kolb stated. “I look forward to seeing you there and encourage you all to bring friends, family and any other eligible donors along with you in order to help out as much as possible.”
