“Today, we witnessed history as Governor David Paterson was sworn in as our 55th state Executive. Although the circumstances leading to today’s event were unfortunate, I join my colleagues in the state Legislature in wishing the new Governor all the best.
We must put the Spitzer scandal behind us and get back to work, focusing on issues of importance to every New Yorker, which include passing a fiscally sound, on-time state budget. Only then can we, as public servants, begin the exceptionally hard work of regaining the public trust and restoring the hope that ‘Day One’ was supposed to bring.”
