Special Session A Failure
Statement by Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua)
November 18, 2008
“Today’s special legislative session was a failure. The fact that the entire legislature was called to Albany and that no legislative bills were presented for action was a disservice to the nearly 19 million New Yorkers we represent. In addition, there was a significant lack of imagination and creativity to develop solutions on the 2008-09 budget deficit.
To postpone tough decisions until mid-December only further exasperates the budget dilemma. New York residents deserve better. The state Legislature and Governor Paterson have a sworn duty to serve our constituents by enacting a plan that will stimulate our economy and protect taxpayers from new tax increases.”
