In advance of Mother’s Day, Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) is helping promote availability of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program as part of its annual “Mother’s Day Mammography Campaign.”
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program offers a toll-free number – 1-800-877-8077 – where individuals with questions about breast cancer can call and speak with over 100 highly trained volunteers offering emotional support, information and referrals. Social work staff provides the professional services offered through this program free of charge.
The service receives approximately 4,000 calls annually from concerned New Yorkers who also visit the program’s website, www.adelphi.edu/nysbreastcancer. In addition to providing answers to callers, the initiative promotes the importance of women receiving mammograms as part of their health care and personal wellness routines.
“The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program is a tremendous service for New Yorkers with questions or concerns about breast cancer. The knowledgeable, caring volunteers who staff the toll-free hotline are a comforting voice and informative resource,” Kolb said.
“Studies have shown that mammograms save lives. There could be no better gift this Mother’s Day than the gift of good health, which is why I am pleased to promote the many services available free of charge from the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program, along with reinforcing the importance of receiving a mammogram,” Kolb concluded.
