Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua)
June 5, 2009
“I commend Governor David Paterson, along with the leaders and membership of CSEA and PEF, in working together for the betterment of New York State. I support this agreement based on the details provided and believe it is a win-win situation, especially for state taxpayers. I am especially pleased to hear of the agreement on a Tier V retirement plan for new employees reached with the two public employee unions, as it will reduce pension costs for state and local governments and, in the process, help ensure New York’s financial future. I call on Assembly Speaker Silver and Senate Majority Leader Smith to bring the Governor’s Tier V legislation to the floor for an immediate vote during next week’s session.”
