Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) will be sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday, July 13 at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake from 1:30 p.m to 7:00 p.m. The Inn is located at 770 South Main Street.
“Although many of us are busy with our summer activities, I encourage people to take time out and help give the ‘gift of life’,” Kolb said. “For those who have never donated, make this your first time.”
Kolb said there is a constant need for blood, especially during the summer months when blood donations can decline by as much as 10 – 15 percent.
According to the Red Cross, although 60 percent of Americans are eligible to donate blood, only five percent do so.
“Together, we can make sure that the blood supply needs in our community are met and don’t reach a critically low level this summer,” said Kolb.
Donors are encouraged to call toll free, (888) 454-1019, to schedule an appointment; however, walk-ins are always welcome. All eligible donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of ice cream redeemable at any participating Friendly’s restaurant.
