If you care about preserving and protecting your right to hunt, fish and enjoy New York’s great outdoors, then mark your calendars and save this date: Tuesday, January 25, 2011. That is when the Assembly’s second annual “Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day” event is being held in the “Well” of the State Legislative Office Building in Albany, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“Sportsmen’s Day” is a bi-partisan event focused on celebrating the countless positive economic contributions that outdoor recreational activities like hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, ATV riding and others have on our state’s economy. All combined, outdoor recreational activities generate billions in economic activity for New York!
Chuck Cunningham, Director of Political Affairs for the National Rifle Association (NRA), will give the keynote address at our 2011 Sportsmen’s Day gathering, which is free and open to all New Yorkers. In January of 2010, over 2,000 sportsmen attended and made Sportsmen’s Day a must-attend event. We have been working hard to ensure 2011 Sportsmen’s Day is even bigger – and better!
In addition to our blockbuster lineup of speakers, we are bringing together over two dozen grassroots organizations and companies involved in outdoor recreation. Speakers at 2011 Sportsmen’s Day will include Tom King, President, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA); Stephen Alstadt, President, Shooters Committee On Political Education (S.C.O.P.E.); William Schwerd, Executive Director, 4-H NYS Shooting Sports and James Rabbia, Plant Manager for Remington Arms.
Members of the State Assembly are proud to extend you this invitation to our upcoming bi-partisan Sportsmen’s Day gathering. To RSVP for Sportsmen’s Day 2011, send an e-mail to kolbb@assembly.state.ny.us, call (518) 455-5073, or find our event page – “Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day” – on Facebook.
