NYS Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb Comments On Assembly Budget Resolution: Here We Go Again, More Taxes And Increased Spending, No Unfunded Mandate Relief For School Districts And Localities
Statement from Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua)
March 15, 2011
“Here we go again: $4.9 billion in tax increases and spending more than Governor Cuomo’s proposed budget were front and center in today’s one-house budget resolution. New York has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. The Assembly Majority’s extension of the ‘Success Tax’ would not even take effect until 2012-13, which means its continuation was an exercise in political theater. We need unfunded mandate relief for local school districts and municipalities, as well as real tax relief for families and businesses. The Assembly Majority’s budget resolution did not address any of these concerns, which is why the Assembly Minority rejected the Assembly Majority’s proposal.”
