NYS Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb And Conference Offer Governor Cuomo’s Property Tax Cap Bill As Amendment To Rent Control Legislation
Statement from Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua)
April 11, 2011
“Over the past several days, the Speaker has publicly said that rent control and a property tax cap were ‘philosophically the same thing.’ Our Conference agrees, which is why we offered Governor Cuomo’s property tax cap bill as an amendment to the rent control legislation the Assembly Majority brought to the floor. Since 2007, Members of our Conference have been pushing a real property tax cap – the ‘New York State Property Taxpayers Protection Act’ – that includes significant unfunded mandate relief for school districts and County governments. Today’s vote on our amendment – which is the Governor’s property tax cap bill – was a golden opportunity for all New Yorkers to see who actually supports Governor Cuomo’s property tax relief and who doesn’t.”
