Statement From NYS Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua) On The Passing Of Former NYS Governor Hugh Carey
August 7, 2011
“Today is a sad day for the Empire State with the passing of former Governor Hugh Carey. Without question, Governor Carey was one of the true giants of New York State government and politics. Governor Carey’s warning – offered decades ago – for state government to return toward a path of fiscal responsibility and that ‘the days of wine and roses are over’ are words that policymakers of both political parties in Albany would do well to remember. Governor Carey left an indelible impact on New York State and was a dedicated public servant in every sense of the word. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Governor Carey’s family during this difficult time.”
