Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) will join members of the Assembly Minority Conference, parents, teachers and local school administrators for a forum about Common Core. The forum will be held on Thursday, October 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Van Nostrand Theatre in the Sagtikos Arts and Science Building on the Grant Campus of Suffolk Community College, Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood.
“Common Core is one of the most pressing issues facing our educational system, and as we work to provide our children with the best education possible, it is important to get everyone involved,” said Lupinacci. “Over the past few months, my office has heard from residents on both sides of this issue, and this forum will provide another opportunity to hear the opinions of those dealing directly with the system. As the ranking minority member on the Assembly Higher Education committee, I’m working each day to ensure that our students are able to meet the highest standards and continue on the path to future success.”
The Common Core system is currently used in 46 states and Washington D.C. Several members of the Assembly have proposed plans to try to respond to growing concerns from parents and others.
