Scholarship Builds Bright Future For Civil Engineers
Tenney announces opportunity for college students
April 28, 2011

Assemblywoman Tenney (R,C,I –New Hartford) today announced a scholarship opportunity offered by the Associated General Contractors of New York State for current college students pursuing a degree in civil engineering.

“Our brightest young people face many obstacles on the path to receiving a quality education, including the rising costs of a college degree,” said Tenney. “By investing in their educational future, we can help those learning to construct and maintain our buildings and highways here in New York State.”

Prospective students must be enrolled in their second, third or fourth undergraduate year with at least a 2.50 GPA, pursuing a degree in civil engineering, and looking to enter either the building- or highway-construction industries. Applications must be received by May 15, 2011, and can be sent to:

AGC NYS LLC
10 Airline Drive Suite 203
Albany, NY 12205

The program awarded about 20 $2,500 scholarships last year and more than $825,000 in total scholarships to New York civil engineering students since 1988.
