“I am honored to present our local student athletes with this legislative resolution commemorating their hard work in becoming state champions,” said Tenney. “They achieved something that no boys’ basketball team in the Center State Conference has done since the turn of the millennium.”
The New York Mills boys’ basketball team was led by Section 3 Class D MVP Matt Welch, who contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Tournament MVP Fred Russ, who added 17 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in the championship game. Resolution 376 will honor the victory in both houses of the New York State Legislature.
“The effort put forth by the New York Mills team reminds us of the importance of continuing to support our children so they are able to excel in all that they do,” said Tenney. “On behalf of all my Assembly colleagues, congratulations on your championship season.”
