Higher Thruway Tolls Are New Fees On New York Businesses

The New York State Thruway Authority has proposed an approximate 45 percent increase in Thruway tolls for tri-axle vehicles. This $371 million hike specifically attacks commercial trucking and New York State businesses.

With reports of businesses fleeing New York State, high unemployment and having earned the worst scores nationally for a business tax environment, New York State cannot afford any more mandates, taxes or fees on job creators.

Trucking is still the most-used means of getting commodities to customers. Directly increasing the cost of business for tri-axle vehicles on the Thruway will also cause the expenses of milk, bread and day-to-day necessities to increase.

This specific and substantial increase in fees is not justifiable when New York businesses and residents are suffering. This toll increase should be stopped.
